Only a few days away before the IBJJF World Championship in No Gi will start. We’ve checked the competitors list and man, we’re excited about some great fights coming up!
Top girls are Pati Fontes from Checkmat and recent EBI champ Mayssa Bastos representing GF Team. Mayssa probably got more gold medals during 2018 than I’ll ever get in my entire life.
For the past three years Pati had the No Gi World Champion title. We saw a battle at the recent final at EBI, will there be a rematch and who will bring home the title this year?
From ECJJA there is brand new blackbelt, judo black belt and European Trials ADCC Champion Ffion Eira Davies. She doesn’t mind some stand-up wrestling and after the Ladies Only BJJ Camp, I can tell her last name should be pressure after seeing and feeling those guard passes.
This year’s European and World Champion Amanda Monteiro representing GF Team is also in the bracket. She has been winning 2018’s biggest competitions with great success. With a No Gi Pan Am title from last year, will she finish this great year becoming the new featherweight World Champion?
This division is stacked- wow! Last year’s No Gi Champions Jena Bishop from Gracie Humaita and Catherine Fuhro Perret from Checkmat are in.
Also, we have ADCC veteran and multiple World Champion Michelle Nicolini, also representing Checkmat. Another former No Gi World Champion who is signed up, is Tammi Musumeci from Brasa CTA, well-known for her fierce guard and berimbolo.
We keep our fingers crossed for a fierce final between Queen Bia Mesquita from Gracie Humaita and GF Team’s Ana Carolina Vieira. These great names speak for themselves and we’re excited to see both ladies in action!
From De La Riva JJ Claudia Doval holds several Champion titles in the Gi but no No Gi titles (yet). We’re curious to find out if it will change after this weekend!
Multiple World Champion and ADCC veteran Luanna Alzuguir from Alliance is also here – we can’t wait to see Luanna bring the action!
2016 World No Gi Champion in both her weight class and absolute, Nathiely de Jesus from Unity Jiu-Jitsu has an amazing guard and her performances on the mat are always entertaining to watch.
We’re guessing there will be a final between her and 3 times No Gi World Champion Andresa Correa, representing Alliance.
Last year’s No Gi World Champion in her weight class and absolute Jessica Flowers from Gracie Barra is our favorite pick for the super heavy title this year!
